【Skill 3】Understand amounts from expressions such as 右 (right) and 兆 (trillion)
Understand the amounts of the current account balance, trade balance, etc., from the following expressions.
■ 貿易収支額 (右軸) (trade balance amount (right axis))
■ 輸出額 (左目盛) (volume of exports (left-hand scale))
The character showing whether the scale on the left or the right applies to an item in the legend appears in parentheses ( ) after that item. If it is 右 (right), look at the scale on the axis on the right side and if it is 左 (left), look at the scale on the axis on the left side. If it is not stated, look at the scale on the axis on the left side.
■ 兆 (trillion)
■ 10億 (billion)
■ 百万 (million)
■ 百 (hundred)
■ ▲ (− [this symbol is used in documents such as financial statements to indicate “minus”])
The units of the amounts in a graph appear at the top of the scale. If the unit is not stated, it is trillions of yen. Amounts may also be shown within the graph. In the following graph, 貿易収支（右軸） (trade balance (right axis)) appears in the legend, so the amounts of the trade balances are shown in the scale on the right. 兆円 (trillion) appears at the top of the scale, so the unit of the amounts is trillions of yen.
