【Skill 4】Understand the purpose of a preliminary survey from expressions such as ため (in order to) and 目的 (purpose)
Find sentences in which ため (in order to) or 目的は (purpose) appear together with expressions such as 予備調査 (preliminary survey) or プレ調査 (pre-survey). The purpose of the preliminary survey is written before ため (purpose) or after 目的は (purpose).
■ プレ調査は調査対象を特定するために実施された (The pre-survey was conducted in order to determine the targets of the survey)
■ 予備調査の目的は質問票の作成である (The purpose of the preliminary survey was to prepare the questionnaire)
Also, if をもとに (based on) or を参考に (taking into account) appear after the expression describing the preliminary survey, the purpose of the preliminary survey appears after that.
■ パイロット調査の結果をもとに、質問項目の修正を行った(The questionnaire items were revised based on the results of the pilot survey)
■ 予備調査のコメントを参考に質問項目の削除や修正を行った (The questionnaire items were revised and/or deleted taking into account the comments in the preliminary survey)
