From the following expressions, understand that what precedes and follows the expression are contrasted.
■ に対して（whereas）
■ 一方（on the other hand）
From two things in the same category that precede the following expressions, understand that 2 things are contrasted. They are contrasted even without 「に対して」（whereas）and 「一方」（on the other hand）.
■ は （a form showing contrast）
■ 場合（the case）
■ ほうは（a form showing contrast）
In the following recording, 「ありふれた表現」（a commonplace expression） and 「俳句」haiku poem） are contrasted.
■ ありふれた表現は著作物にあたらないのに対して、俳句のほうは著作物にあたります。（A commonplace expression is not a copyrighted work, whereas a haiku poem is.）
