【Skill 7】Understand the target(s) of the survey and the number of people targeted from expressions such as 対象は(target) and 名 (counter for people).

Look for expressions such as 対象は (targets) or を対象 (were targeted) or に対し (were targeted) in order to understand the survey targets and the number of people. The targets of the survey are written after 対象は (targets) or before を対象 (were targeted) or に対し (were targeted).

■ 対象正社員 (the targets were regular employees)
■ 新卒者を対に(new graduates were targeted)
■ 内定者に対して (prospective employees were targeted)

The number of people targeted appears between the targets of the survey and 名 (counter for people) or 人 (counter for people).

■ 対象者は女性正社員100 (the targets were 100 female regular employees)

If the survey was conducted on multiple targets, the targets of the survey will be listed using と (and), 並びに (as well as), etc. The number after 計 (total) is the total number of people targeted.

■ 2015年に入社した正規従業員45名、並びに非正規従業員27名が調査の対象である。 (The targets of the survey were 45 regular employees who had joined the company in 2015 as well as 27 non-regular employees.)
■ 対象の内訳は内定者180名ならびに入社1年目の正社員125名の305名である。 (The total number of targets was 305 people, broken down into 180 prospective employees as well as 125 first-year regular employees.)
