If the pitch from [jah] to [nah] of [jah-nah-ee] goes up, and it goes down from [nah] to [ee], the speaker is expressing his/her thought. In the following recording, the speaker is saying that the store is not closed today.

■ [co-no-me-seh kyohh-wa-yah-sue-me-jah-nah-ee.] (This store is not closed today.)



While the pitch from [jah] to [nah] of [jah-nah-ee] does not go up, and it does not go down from [nah] to [ee], the speaker is telling what he/she has noticed. In the following recording, the speaker notices that the store is closed today and is telling it.

■ [co-no-me-seh kyohh-wa-yah-sue-me-jah-nah-ee.] (Oh, this store is closed today.)
